The strangest dream

Posted by Sol in prattle

It’s all blue, it’s the Blue Note. I get there with my boss and my colleague. I’m anxious to meet someone. There’s a concert. We get in, and I see a lot of people I know. I also get a sort of flashback, or a dream inside the dream: I see myself, from the outside, i’m laughing, i’m different, ugly. I’m there with some friends, and I look at that girl, and I think: how could I be so happy then?. Then the flashback ends. I move around the place. Suddenly I see a doll committing suicide under a chair. She dies on a poodle of blood, I see her, but I don’t feel anything. I just watch. She doesn’t scare me or make me feel sad. I think that she is a doll, after all. I keep moving and I finally find him. He’s wearing his gray sweater. I kiss him. I feel sorry because I invited him to the concert but it’s really terrible. It’s about some wooden santa’s that look like big red Pinocchios. The kiss doesn’t reassure me. I’m still kind of worried. My boss and my colleague we have to leave. We take the car. I’m driving. The street was like a street in mexico, but we head to Piacenza, which is in Italy. I take the wrong direction. I’m very worried.

Christmas Balance Sheet

Posted by Sol in prattle

“Wish list:

My wish-not list was thoroughly not-fulfilled, and that’s good news.

OTOH, I got the size for my knitting job wrong, and the sweater didn’t fit, so I’ll have to undo part of it and knit a bit more. But he did like the color, which is very good.
I’m having a holiday and that’s much more than I could ask for in the first place, because it feels like a holiday even if I’m writing my thesis and studying a bit. (I’ve got the first chapter done, and today I’ll start working on the second and third)

Mail me if you want to take a look at it. (in Italian)

Good-bye, Chunky Rice by Craig Thompson

Good-Bye, Chunky Rice

After devouring Blankets I rushed to buy the previous publication of the author, because he kept me wanting more…
GBCR is maybe less mature than Blankets, it is too short, it is too fast. Would love to know more about Chunky and where the hell is he going anyway, but it kept me laughing and crying out loud the whole time, even after the 4th time through. Sweet.

Follow my advice, get yourself a copy.

Lavatrice

(acrylic on canvas, 50 cm x 60 cm)

It represents an old fashioned washing machine, as I remembered it from my grandmother’s house back in Mexico.

Diana Thorneycroft
“Goofy,” “Mickey,” “Bert,” “Barney,” “Pinky,” “Bart”
Graphite on paper, 2001-2

According to Thorneycroft, the works from Foul Play reflect the hypocritical way that society ignores the violence that is often at the heart of child’s play.
